A deck is an investment in how you use your property. A little seasonal attention keeps it safe, comfortable and looking the way it did the day it was finished.

Spring: Clean and Inspect

Clear debris from between the boards, wash the surface and walk the whole structure looking for loose fasteners, soft spots or movement in the railings.

Summer: Seal and Protect

A quality stain or sealer applied in dry weather protects against UV and moisture. Most decks benefit from this every two to three years.

Fall: Clear and Prepare

Leaves left to sit over winter trap moisture against the boards. Clearing them before the first snow makes a real difference.

Winter: Shovel With Care

Use a plastic shovel and work along the boards rather than across them. Avoid salt, which is hard on both wood and fasteners.
